Music soothes the savage beast!

Stuff that has helped lift my mood this past week:  1.  taking multi-vitamins and a vitamin D supplement  2.  Getting out with good friends  3.  less sugar, more protein and vegetables  4.  sleeping at least 8 hours/night, 5.  making sure to prioritize my relationship with my husband, and spend time together having fun.  6.  This blog.  I’ve only been writing for a short while, but having a place to be honest, to check in, and to express myself through writing has in itself been a healing thing.

I think I almost had a hint of optimism creep in today, as I allowed myself to think about where I’d like to be and what I’d like to be doing a year from now.  It lasted for a little while, this feeling of dare I say, “hopefulness”?  I got home today, and my husband’s new guitar came for him.  It was so good to see him happy, and enjoying himself.  (He has had his share of loss too in the past several years.)  The music and newness of the guitar helped to clear some of the emotional cobwebs out of the house.  This cold, dark month has been a challenge.  Noticing what helps to release tension, and soothe ourselves is important.

  1. Yay! Optimism! I’m so happy to read that 🙂
(and … another thing we have in common: my husband plays the guitar, too!)
